Family Practice - Without OB Physician

We are seeking Emergency Medicine Physicians for locum coverage in Eden, North Carolina. This opportunity is open to ABEM-certified Emergency Medicine physicians, as well as Family Medicine (ABFM) and Internal Medicine physicians with Emergency Medicine experience.

Assignment Details

• Specialty: Emergency Medicine
• Location: Eden, NC
• Setting: Hospital-based Emergency Department
• Annual ED Volume: Approximately 20,000 visits
• EMR: Epic
• Coverage: 24-hour physician coverage with 12-hour APC coverage

Schedule & Coverage

• Emergency Department coverage
• 24-hour daily physician staffing
• 12-hour daily Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) staffing

Practice Setting

• Community-based acute care hospital
• Approximately 20,000 annual Emergency Department visits
• 17 ED treatment rooms
• Approximately 55 ED visits per day on average

• Diagnostic imaging

Clinical Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients presenting to the Emergency Department
• Diagnose and manage acute illnesses and injuries
• Stabilize critically ill and injured patients
• Order and interpret laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging
• Perform emergency procedures within approved clinical privileges
• Coordinate admissions, transfers, and specialty consultations
• Collaborate with APCs, nursing staff, and hospital-based specialists
• Provide comprehensive emergency care across a broad range of clinical presentations

Board Certification Requirements

• Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM)
• Family Medicine (ABFM) physicians with Emergency Medicine experience
• Internal Medicine physicians with Emergency Medicine experience

Licensing & Certifications

• Active North Carolina medical license required
• ACLS required for non-ABEM physicians
• PALS required for non-ABEM physicians
• ATLS required for non-ABEM physicians

Ideal Candidate

An experienced Emergency Medicine Physician or Family Medicine/Internal Medicine Physician with Emergency Medicine experience who is comfortable working in a community hospital Emergency Department. The ideal candidate will have strong emergency medicine skills, experience managing a diverse patient population, and the ability to collaborate effectively with APCs and hospital-based specialists.
