Hematology/Oncology Physician Locum Tenens

Location: North Carolina
Start Date: November 16, 2026
Contract Length: 39 weeks
Schedule: Monday Thursday or Monday Friday
Shift: 7:00 AM 5:00 PM (10-hour shifts)

Position Overview We are seeking a Hematology/Oncology Physician for a 39-week locum tenens opportunity in North Carolina. This position is primarily focused on benign hematology, with approximately % hematology and some month-to-month variation. The physician will work in an ambulatory Hematology/Oncology clinic seeing both new and follow-up patients. This is a well-supported practice with multiple clinical and administrative resources available.

Key Responsibilities
  • See a minimum of 15 patients per day
  • Manage primarily hematology patients
  • Evaluate new and follow-up patients
  • Focus on benign hematology
  • Write orders and prescriptions
  • Communicate with pharmacy staff
  • Be comfortable working in a general Hematology/Oncology setting
  • Provide broad, bread-and-butter Hematology/Oncology care
Clinical Support
You will not be working entirely solo. The care team includes:
  • Nurses
  • Nurse Navigator
  • Administrative support
  • Pharmacy
  • 1 2 physicians
  • Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
  • Infusion Specialist
Requirements
  1. Updated CV in MM/YYYY format (NO Gaps above 30 days)
  2. NPDB Self query - (current month copy)
  3. Board Certification in Hematology and/or Oncology
  4. Dual board certification preferred
  5. Oncology board certification required if seeing oncology patients
  6. Active North Carolina medical license
  7. DEA
  8. BLS certification
  9. Minimum 2 3 years of clinical experience
  10. Clean credentialing file
  11. EPIC experience preferred; an EPIC assessment will be required prior to the start date
Credentialing
  • Estimated credentialing timeframe: days
  • Temporary privileges may be available for qualified providers

Travel & Lodging
Travel support is provided, including:
