JOB OVERVIEW Job Id: L-MD-06263 Profession: Physician Specialty: General Surgery Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Hazard, KY Service Setting: Inpatient Coverage Type: Call Only Coverage Period: Oct 23, 2026 Ongoing On-Call Shift Schedule: 24-hour call, 7am 7am Call Type: Beeper Call Response Time: 30 minutes Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered by Vendor SPECIFIC SHIFTS TO FILL Oct 23 Oct 26 (7am 7am) Oct 29 Nov 2 (7am 7am) Nov 26 Nov 30 (7am 7am) Dec 24 Jan 3 (7am 7am) PATIENT INFORMATION Average Daily Volume: 10-15 patients/day Rounding: Assigned Patients Phone Consults: 10 Case Mix: General Surgery, Trauma, Wound Care FACILITY INFORMATION EMR System: MediTech Support Staff: PA/NPs: 1, Office Staff: 1 PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: No Temporary Privileges Available: Yes REQUIRED PROCEDURES Required General Surgery (Adult, Pediatric, Neonate, Trauma) Laparoscopic Surgery (Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Hernioplasty, Nissen Fundoplication) Head/neck surgery (including thyroid) Chest wall/pleural procedures Breast surgery Obstetric & gynecologic surgery (Cesarean section, D&C, Hysterectomy) Liver surgery GI endoscopy (Upper, Lower, Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy) Minor Orthopedics Hand Surgery Ventilation management Chest tube insertion Central line insertion PA Catheter placement Laser certification Vascular Surgery (Aneurysm repairs (Thoracic, Abdominal), Arterial bypass (Peripheral), Vascular access devices (AV shunt Plastic Surgery (Artesias (Esophageal, Intestinal, Biliary), Abdominal wall defects (Gastroschisis, Umbilical defects, Hernia, Omphalocele, Diaphragmatic hernia), Imperforate anus, PDA ligation) JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: Board Certified Licenses: Active KY License or Universal License (IMLC) Certifications: BLS, ACLS Duties & Responsibilities Perform emergency general surgery procedures including bowel resection, trauma surgery, and perforation repairs Manage incision and drainage of abscesses and wound care Provide on-call coverage for emergency surgical consultations and interventions Utilize advanced surgical skills as needed (laparoscopic, vascular, plastic surgery) Ensure timely and accurate documentation in the EMR system (MediTech)
