JOB OVERVIEW Job Id: L-MD-43606 Profession: Physician Specialty: Cardiovascular Surgery Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Fort Smith, AR 72903 Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient Coverage Type: Clinical + Call Coverage Period: ASAP Jul 31, 2027 Shift Schedule: Clinic hours up to 10 hrs/week as needed; primary coverage is on-call On-Call Shift Schedule: 24/7 coverage during assignment; Beeper call Call Type: Beeper Call Ratio: 10-14 Call Response Time: 20 minutes Reason for Coverage: Vacancy (Medical Leave) Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered by Agency (Vendor) PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Adults, Pediatrics, Neonate Average Daily Volume: 10-12 patients/day Rounding: Both Case Mix: Cardiovascular surgery (urgent, emergent, outpatient), potential clinic cases FACILITY INFORMATION EMR System: Epic PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Temporary Privileges Available: Yes REQUIRED PROCEDURES Required: General Surgery Adult Pediatric Neonate Trauma Laparoscopic Surgery (Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Hernioplasty, Nissen Fundoplication) Head/neck surgery (including thyroid) Chest wall/pleural procedures Breast surgery Obstetric & gynecologic surgery (Cesarean section, D&C, Hysterectomy) Liver surgery GI endoscopy (Upper, Lower, Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy) Minor Orthopedics (Hand Surgery) Ventilation management Chest tube insertion Central line insertion PA Catheter placement Laser certification Vascular Surgery (Aneurysm repairs (Thoracic, Abdominal), Arterial bypass (Peripheral), Vascular access devices (AV shunt Plastic Surgery (Artesias (Esophageal, Intestinal, Biliary, Abdominal wall defects (Gastroschisis, Umbilical defects, Hernia, Omphalocele, Diaphragmatic hernia), Imperforate anus PDA ligation JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: BC required (Certified) Licenses: Universal License (IMLC) or Arkansas license Certifications: ACLS Duties & Responsibilities Provide on-call coverage for cardiovascular surgical patients, including urgent, emergent, and outpatient cases. Manage and treat surgical patients in the hospital setting, including rounding and admissions. See patients in clinic for follow-up and consultations as needed (up to 10 hours per week). Collaborate with other surgeons and hospital staff to ensure continuity of care. Respond promptly to call backs within 20 minutes and provide timely surgical interventions.Skills mentioned in this job
